The Rules:
All submitted banners must be original works, composed of source images not owned, created, or copyrighted by any other person, organization, or company - unless their expressed permission is given to you with the understanding that you will be using it to create something for which you will be receiving payment. Cropping an image or changing the color scheme does not make someone else's image your own creation. Theft or abuse of copyrighted images, or images not copyrighted but created by another person or entity, makes you liable for any damages claimed by the original owner of the image. By submitting a banner to Dark Music Domain or any representative thereof, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to all of the rules of this contest, and claim the submitted banner as your own intellectual property, created solely from original source images owned or created by you. Groups of two or more people who submit a banner will divide the payment among themselves; Dark Music Domain will not pay the amount below to each individual involved in the creation of the submitted banner. Anyone can submit a banner - amateur graphic artist or professional. There are absolutely no rules regarding who can submit a banner. By submitting a banner, you agree that your submission, if chosen as the winner, will become the property of Dark Music Domain and any representative thereof. Consequently, you grant Dark Music Domain or any representative thereof the right of unlimited use, free from the need to mention the original creator of the banner.
The Guidelines:
The banner must be 752 pixels (across the top and bottom) by 94 pixels. The format must be jpeg. The banner must feature "Dark Music Domain." The URL for Dark Music Domain does not have to appear in the banner, but it can if you want it to. The banner should NOT include YOUR URL, although some tiny indication of your identity may be acceptable. Dark Music Domain is not seeking a banner with a particular theme or color scheme. Gothic imagery is just as good as industrial imagery. As guidelines, artists should simply keep in mind that the banner should be interesting and eye-catching. A banner full of complex images is not necessarily better than one that is simple. Artists are allowed to submit as many banners as they like (if they decide that they would like to try different images and styles), but only one banner will be chosen for use. Other artists may be contracted for graphics work in the future. Dark Music Domain will eventually seek graphic artists for the creation of a logo, so artists submitting banners should take into consideration that this is an excellent time to make a good impression.
The Time:
This contest will run until September 10, 2004. After that date, no further submissions will be accepted. Artists submitting a banner may submit their banner - or, as the case may be, banners - any time before that date. Once the winner is chosen and announced, the winner will be contacted to make payment arrangements.
The Prize:
The winner of the banner contest will be paid $40.00 via any of the following payment methods: PayPal, personal check, cash (strictly at your own risk), or (international) money order. No bank transfers. Artists residing outside the United States should note that foreign currencies and bank transfers will not be used to make payment,
but PayPal will convert $40.00 to the currency in which the funds in your bank
account are denominated. Please contact Dark Music Domain if you have any questions or concerns, otherwise you must abide by the rules and guidelines given above.
GOOD LUCK, EVERYONE!!
