Welcome to the Domain!
Dark Music Domain was founded in May 2004 strictly as a music mailorder service, with no record label division. Having previously conducted business on eBay under a different title, Dark Music Domain established a strong record of customer service that is unparalleled in the scene today! Though the catalog script and style were originally set in place by Chris Donovan of Somnambulant Records (R.I.P.), with some graphics not only by Chris but also J. Cameron of the dark electro/industrial projects Symbiont and Lexincrypt (some of which are not currently featured on the site), in late 2007, the various pages of the Dark Music Domain site, excluding the catalog itself, were devolved to simple HTML for the sake of function and simplicity. Much of the artwork now featured on the pages of the site, as well as the advertising postcards included with merchandise, are photos of the natural world taken by Chris, the founder of Dark Music Domain. More than digital graphics or altered photos of rusted machines, these photos fit the character of the site and the music sold through it.
Focusing primarily on the genre of dark ambient - but also including experimental, noise, industrial, dark electro, gothic rock, martial industrial, neo-classical, funeral doom, and others - the catalog currently consists of approximately 400 items. With the exception of items that just recently sold out, all of those items are available at any given time. Unlike other record labels and music retailers, Dark Music Domain does not sell items that are not in stock! If the price is there and you can add it to your shopping cart, the item is there and we'll add it to your order! But if you're still skeptical, feel free to email us at info@DarkMusicDomain.com beforehand. We will be happy to check on the stock status of the item you want, and we will never treat your inquiries as a nuisance! Our customers are worth our time. (For more information on how we handle your orders, please visit the Ordering & Shipping page through the site menu.)
Dark Music Domain does not currently have any actual plans to open a record label division, but we have entertained the notion! Soon to come?
